Annual Report 2017

First and foremost, I bow my head in front of the Almighty God, the source and fullness of all wisdom for His abundant blessings and concern shown for our day to day activities. We also remember with gratified heart, our patroness Mother Vimala and Founder of our Congregation St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara for their unconditional love and blessings showered upon us.

Our greatest mission is the formation of the Person, and not mere information. This implies the guided development of the physical, mental, moral, intellectual and spiritual powers of the child. When we humbly say that we have succeeded in this mission, we are dutiful to give you a backup of the records which made us to say so.

We wish to begin with our performance on the academic font. Excellence in academics is the hallmark of any good institution. We are proud to say that out of 127 students who appeared for the class X board examination, 65 students scored FULL A1 and rest of them scored High Distinction.

CBSE plus two results came with Kum. Anupama Vinayan of our School scoring a whopping 98.4% and becoming the 7th Rank holder of CBSE. She is the topper of Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.  Kum. Mariam Jetcy of Commerce Stream is the topper of Economics & Business Studies. Out of 80 students appeared for Plus two, 70 bagged distinction and 10 got First Class. 13 Students among them scored FULL A1.

The toppers of English are Master. Akhil Krishnan, Master. Hari Sankar M, Master. Asif Muhammed CH, Kum. Reshma Aji, and Kum. Riya Jose.

Toppers of Computer Science are Master. Akhil Krishnan and Master. Hari Sankar M,

Toppers of Biology are Kum. Keerthy Mathews & Kum. Anupama Vinayan.

Toppers of Accountnacy are Kum. Ann Rose Rojan, Kum. Mariam Jetcy, Kum. Shreya Krishna and Kum. Tinu Paul. Topper of Business Studies is Kum. Anice Jacob.

 

Staff : This year, we have been blessed to have a new vice principal Rev. Sr. Lizbeth CMC to become a strong academician, a great motivator, guide and a friend for the staff and students alike. Vimalities comprises of 82 well trained, well experienced, dedicated teaching staff and  24 Supporting Staff including Clerical  Staff, Security Personnel, Bus Drivers and assistants. We duly appreciate their tremendous co-operation and work hard, for making our dreams and aspiration come true. Apart from the various core subject teachers, we have an enthusiastic team of teachers for Physical Education, Yoga, Music, Dance, Skating, Home Science, Karate and Taekwondo.

 

Student Enrichment Program:   To ensure that our students are equipped to face any challenge, we have focused on few Student Enrichment programs as follows:

1.  Two days workshop by Mr. Georgekutty Augusthy, renowned orator & counsellor

2.   Three-day personality development seminar by Mr. Praveen & Team for the non-christian students and Three-day retreat for Catholic students by Christeen Emmanual Ministry was conducted on Oct 29, 30 and Nov 1st.

P.T.A Activities: PTA General Body meeting was held and new members were elected with Mr. Tom J Kallarackal as President and Mrs. Priya Micky as Vice President. Various orientation and awareness programs were organized for the parents. Mr. Georgekutty Augusthy, renowned orator and counselor addressed the parents on June 03, 2017.  Sessions were organized for parents and students together on various days by eminent speakers and trainers like Sri. Binesh K Menon, Dr. Meera and Sri. Abishaad Guruvayoor.

Now, let us have a brief glimpse of the functions that marked the school calendar this year.

School Blessing & Holy Mass: A pious beginning will radiate a light to lead us through all our endeavours. Vimala Public School began our academic year with Holy Mass and School Blessings by Rev. Dr. Thomas Periyapuram, the vicar of Vijnanamatha Church, Thodupuzha. Grand & small events began to roll with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

Infra Structure Development: The school has elated a flyover connecting the LP block to the KG block. Sri. P J Joseph MLA inaugurated the flyover on June 27. Ward Councillor Sri. Shahul Hameed and Municipal Chairperson Smt. Safia Jabbar had graced the occasion.

Nurturing the Nature:    World Environment Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 5th June. Mr.  Shaji Manakadu, Rtd. Joint Director, Agricultural Dept of Kerala, was the guest for the day. School conducted quiz for the Eco Club members and conducted a collage competition for other students.

Investiture Ceremony: The new school council for the 21st academic year was formally inducted through a grand investiture ceremony on June 30,. Sri. Raghu, SI, Thodupuzha Janamythri Police was the chief guest.  The School Head Boy Mstr. Thomas Saby and Head Girl Ms. Sona Sabu and other parliament members were sworn in by the Chief Guest.

Doctors Day: Doctor's Day celebrated by the students of Vimala Public School to recognize their contributions to individual lives and for the society as a whole. Sr. Elize CMC, Principal along with teachers and students visited hospitals and greeted Doctors. 

Vismay 2017 :  We celebrated Arts Fest - VISMAY 2017 on 30 June and 01 July, with great pomp and enthusiasm. The Chief Guest for the programme was Mr. S. Jithesh, popularly known as Jitheshji,  fastest cartoonist and former Vice-Chairman of Kerala Cartoon Academy.

Independence Day & Assumption of Mother Mary: School celebrated Indian Independence on 14 August, with zeal and spirit befitting the occasion. Rev. Fr. Antony Thulamattathil, Superior of Upasana, was the chief guest.  Assumption of Mother Mary was symbolically re-created. Feast day of Rev. Sr. Devotia CMC- School Director was also celebrated with great pomp.

Onam celebration:  As a part of Onostsavam we went to Kumaramangalam Naduvathumpara Colony and also visited an elderly man Sri. Balakrishnan Nair staying alone at Kanjiramattom and distributed the Onam Kit and Onakodi for them. On 30th we celebrated Onam at school in its full spirit. The Chief Guest for the day was Sri. Anil Nambhoothiri, MD of Dhanvanthiri Groups of Institutions.

Teacher's Day 2017:  Vimala Public School celebrated World Teachers Day-2017 on October 5th as a tribute to the incredible efforts made by the teachers.

Annual Sports Day: Vimala celebrated its Annual Sports Day on 26 & 27 Oct. The chief guest for the mega event was Mr.Vishnu Kumar, Sub Inspector of Police, Thodupuzha. The Guest of Honour was Mr. Abeesh P. Domanic, a prolific record setter, having already made it to Guinness Record.

Ala Carte : Students of classes V & VI put up a food stall managed by themselves with variety of snack items, and foods. The money collected from the stall was contributed for helping one of their parents who is suffering from Cancer.

Scientia 2k17: We conducted SCIENTIA 2K17, Science Expo and Bibox Innovation day  on 13 Nov. Sri Raghu R, Senior Scientist of ISRO was the Chief Guest. School also honoured the great astronomer and Assistant Professor of Newman College, Dr. Joe Jacob, who discovered the supercluster of galaxies named Saraswathi. Students exhibited a wide range of things related to science, language and commerce. Special Food stall by PTA added magnetism to the function. The collection from food stall was contributed to the fund towards the water supply facility initiated by us for the Naduvathumpara Colony.

Sports: Special training is given to students before hours and after hours for Skating Basketball, Football, Cricket, Taekwondo, Kho-kho, Throw Ball, Shuttle Badminton, and Volley Ball. School team participated in various competitions and bagged laurels in this academic year.

Inter School Competition: Our school being a regular participant in Inter School competitions has helped to expose our students to imbibe the spirit of competition thus preparing them for the future.  We have participated in CKSC Sahodaya Kalotsav in the month of October 2017 and bagged many prizes and grades and the school secured 8th position out of 106 schools. 7 of our students participated in the State Level Sahodaya Competitions.  The details of the achievers will be revealed when we honor them within few hours.

Expeditions and Pilgrimage: Every expedition made is an experience which leaves students pondering and implores them to think. We went for tour to various destinations like Ooty, Mysore, Hyderabad, Kodaikanal, Trivandrum, Veegaland and so on.

Comprehensive School Health Programme: The importance of health, personal hygiene, nutrition, physical fitness, etc is reiterated through several activities throughout the year. A comprehensive medical inspection by a team of specialists is organized every year.

I am thankful to our incredible management, School Manager & Mother Provincial Rev. Sr. Dr. Navya Maria CMC, Vicar Provincial & Former Principal Rev. Sr. Benno CMC, Education Councillor Rev. Sr. Glory CMC, our local manager & Mother Superior Rev. Sr. Clement CMC and School Director & Former Provincial Superior Rev. Sr. Devotia CMC, whose vision, wisdom and missionary zeal inspired Vimalities to work with passion and commitment.

 The selfless work of the strong pillars of Vimala, Sr. Lizbeth our Vice Principal, Sr. Tresa Mary Our Headmistress, Sr. Reena Our Bursar and Sr. Rose Mathew our KG Headmistress are greatly acknowledged at this moment. We also remember with gratitude every one of those who walked along with us.every student, every teacher and every parent who contributed his or her best to built Vimala as an edifice of brilliance.

I also thank all the Principals of the neighboring schools and of Newman College for their timely support. I take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge the valuable service of Rev. Dr. Thomas Periyapuram,- our Vicar, Rev. Fathers from the Vincentian Ashram, from Upasana, Saviours Home and the priests of the nearby parishes, who were our spiritual guides. 

I would like to conclude by extending our sincere thanks to all the parents, PTA Executive members, especially our PTA President Mr. Tom J Kallarackal and each one of you our well-wishers who have lent a supportive hand down through the years, in all our endeavors to produce a confident, educated and capable batch of students each year. Thus, shaping the future of your children who are the destiny of this country.  

Entrusting our school into the divine hands of Mother Mary our patroness and invoke blessings of Lord Jesus, I submit the Annual Report for the year 2017. Thank you for reading.
